my story in three, or more, projects
These projects describe my development as a researcher. More to come I hope.
CKD and Mental Health
This latest project is intended to lead towards a PhD. It is funded by the local kidney network and the Donal O’Donahue Fund for Kidney Research.
The two key aspects are:
Epidemiology of CKD and Mental Health conditions in Cheshire and Merseyside
Trajectories of CKD and how they are influenced by Mental Health conditions and their treatment.
Literature reviews around the subject are ongoing and access to data is being arranged

Variation in GP Practices in a single PCN
As part of a City centre PCN I have produced a report on how
Variation in GP practices is caused by Age, Ethnicity , and Deprivation
I will be presenting this as a poster at the RCGP conference
The most important factor for the study was the age profile of the practices. Unfortunately practices with populations which differ from the average loose out financially. This risks reducing the resources available for deprived communities.

Ultra Processed Food was identified at a population scale as being a risk for health. In particular this particular group of foods is not those food types which are purchased to process at home. 50% of the food bought in the UK is ultra processed, this is the highest level in the world. My project looked at the national nutrition data set (NDNS) collected as a national cross-sectional trial. I attempted to identify a link to hypertension. The relationship identified was not what I expected.
Roundtable meeting discussed the potential for development in charity funded research for the North West
